In response to the staggering number of drownings this year in Maricopa and Pinal counties, Scottsdale Aquatics is stepping up by offering free swim lessons during August which is Drowning Impact Awareness Month; a total of 47 people have tragically lost their lives to drowning since January, as reported by the Children’s Safety Zone.

Designed to cater to various age groups starting from infants of six months old to adults, the swimming program aims to not only educate but also potentially save lives; drowning is a preventable cause of death that continues to impact families across the Valley, hence, the urgency of this initiative cannot be overstated.

Scottsdale residents are invited to register via Scottsdale Recreation’s online system for these invaluable swim lessons and today, the opportunity opens up for non-residents as well, according to the city's announcement.
