According to FOX 10 Phoenix, Jessica's disappearance is suspected to be the result of her mistakenly setting her neighbor's umbrella on fire and fearing eviction for her family. The incident was quickly resolved without injury, but the scare led Jessica to run away to prevent further trouble for her family. Chris Castorena, CEO of Arizona Private Investigation Services, is actively involved in the search efforts and emphasized the urgency to quickly find Jessica, given her age and vulnerable situation.
Jessica's father, David Holtzinger, expressed his distress over his daughter's absence in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, revealing, "It tears me up honestly that she would feel that she had to do something so drastic. I want her to come home safe. I hope she's OK." The outpouring of community support has manifested in organized search parties, which have included Jessica's teachers and fellow community members, to canvass the Phoenix area for any signs of her.
Meanwhile, Emily Burger, associated with Excelencia School where Jessica is a student, reflected her concerns in an interview with 12 News, stating, "Jessica's a student I've known for two years and I've been able to develop a really awesome relationship with her. But it's very scary because you just you never know who's out there."
