Last Wednesday evening in Colma, what might have been a routine shoplifting incident took an expectedly grim turn. According to the Colma Police Department's social media feed, a theft was reported at a business on the 5000 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard. At around 8:49 pm, officers responded to a call about a male, later identified as Chihoa Sihapanya, a 39-year-old resident from San Francisco, who had attempted to steal merchandise and was detained by loss prevention officers.

Upon arrival, Colma Police took over to formally place Sihapanya under arrest. It was later revealed that he had stolen items valued at approximately $487.20. But the charges didn't stop at petty theft. During a search incident(to) arrest, officers discovered what they believed to be methamphetamine along with a glass smoking pipe. These findings led to additional charges: possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. "Officers arrived on scene and placed the male under arrest", the department stated on its official Facebook page.

Sihapanya was issued a citation with a promise to appear in court on the stipulated dates.
