According to WFLA, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported that 53-year-old Juan Rafols was shot dead by his 38-year-old brother, Joe Ruiz, on Monday evening. Authorities responded to the incident around 5:43 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting on North Cameron Avenue, where Rafols was found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.
The following day, Ruiz approached the University of South Florida Police Department, indicating his intent to face the consequences of his actions, during which Ruiz confessed to the killing in a subsequent interview with detectives, this information was detailed in the statements obtained by the Tampa Bay Times.
