
A 17-year-old boy became the victim of a shooting incident on Tuesday evening at a Chatham neighborhood gas station on Chicago's South Side, according to authorities. The Chicago Sun-Times reported the teenager was inside a vehicle around 5:30 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when he was approached and shot by an unidentified assailant.
The shots, striking him in the back and leaving the boy wounded, were fired as he sat in a car at the gas station, according to police. Fox 32 Chicago stated that the victim was subsequently transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. He was listed in fair condition following the attack.
At present, no suspects have been apprehended in connection to the shooting, and Chicago police are continuing to investigate. Area Two detectives have been assigned to the case, aiming to gather evidence and possibly identify the shooter.
