
Early Tuesday morning, a 15-year-old boy became the latest victim of gun violence in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. Chicago Sun-Times reports that around 3:50 a.m., the teenager was walking in the 7700 block of South Essex Avenue when shots rang out from a dark-colored vehicle, resulting in a graze wound to his right arm. After the incident, he was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital and listed in good condition.
Adding to the details, ABC7 Chicago states the shooting occurred around 3:40 a.m. on the sidewalk where the boy was walking. After being fired upon, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital by the Chicago Fire Department. With the young man expected to make a full recovery, the community is left questioning the security of their streets.
Investigations are underway, although no individuals have been taken into custody in relation to the shooting, and the authorities are yet to determine the motive or identity of the assailant. Information concerning the shooter remains scant, and police are asking anyone with knowledge pertaining to the case to step forward.
