Following a reported armed robbery in Roxbury, the Boston Police Department, with detectives from District B-2, conducted a search warrant on Adams Street leading to the recovery of four firearms and the arrest of three suspects. The operation unfolded after officers responded to the scene of the robbery at 479 Blue Hill Avenue on July 11, 2024, where three armed suspects allegedly robbed a business before fleeing, according to the Boston Police Department report.
Utilizing citywide camera surveillance and a victim’s stolen watch tracked to the area around Adams Street, detectives identified the suspects' vehicle. The apprehension of the suspects was hampered by one's refusal to exit his apartment, compelling a SWAT-assisted entry. The Boston Police Department's detailed account revealed that the found firearms included a Springfield Armory XP5, a Ruger, and a Glock, among others loaded with ammunition.
Subsequent to the suspects' capture and during their processing, police officers discovered drugs, implying further illegal activities. Stripping away prevarications of truth, the nature of the discovered substances—two plastic bags of a brown rock-like material and five of a harder substance—suggested illicit dealings. The three men apprehended, James Mendes, Eric Hines, and Hendrick Davis, face numerous charges including larceny of a firearm, armed robbery, and breaking and entering. As mentioned by the Boston Police, Mendes is additionally charged with kidnapping and assault with a dangerous weapon, while Davis faces charges for possession with intent to distribute Class A and B drugs. All are slated for arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
