
Chaos erupted on the West Side of Chicago when a shootout left three men injured in the early hours of Saturday morning, according to local authorities. The incident took place in Garfield Park, specifically in the 3300 block of West Maypole Avenue, around 12:42 a.m. ABC 7 Chicago reports that a group was congregating on the street when shots were fired by unidentified assailants.
The aftermath was dire, with a 33-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to his lower back and being rushed in a critical state to Stroger Hospital. Similarly, a 30-year-old received critical injuries after being shot in his back and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital. The third victim, a 32-year-old man, also found his way to Mount Sinai with a gunshot wound to his calf; he was reported to be in fair condition. Despite the violent encounter, CBS News Chicago adds that over 30 evidence markers were placed at the scene, indicating a substantial investigation is underway.
"As of Saturday, no one is in custody," as per CBS News Chicago. The investigation is led by Area Four Detective.
