Portland is pushing forward in its efforts to address climate change and community empowerment, with Tracy Scott recently appointed to the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF) Committee, as they prepare to execute the city's five-year Climate Investment Plan. Scott brings nearly two decades of industry experience into the nine-member committee, poised to continue shaping the programs and policies that aim to create a more sustainable Portland.
According to the City of Portland, Scott was welcomed by Commissioner Carmen Rubio, who extended thanks to the outgoing committee member Michael Edden Hill, who has brought a labor and community perspective to PCEF from its onset. Eager to drive progress in clean energy programs, Scott steps up to fill the shoes left by Hill, representing a bridge between the energy industry and the community interests it serves.
Scott's extensive background includes overseeing energy efficiency and renewable energy programs at Energy Trust of Oregon, where she currently serves as Director of Energy Programs, as reported by the City of Portland. Her expertise extends from managing multifamily programs to steering commercial and industrial schemes across various regions, emphasizing community-based efforts and utility collaborations.
As per the City of Portland, representing the voice of the underrepresented, Scott expressed her commitment, stating "I am excited to work with other committee members to advocate for clean energy programs to benefit low and moderate income and BIPOC Portlanders." Portland's PCEF – a consequence of 2018's voter-supported initiative – dedicates itself to climate action with a clear focus on enfranchising communities of color and low-income residents, ensuring their direct participation and representation within the committee.
