An attempt to rob a man of 22 pounds of marijuana may have led to the shooting on Alabama Avenue this past Thursday, injuring two individuals. According to the Nashville Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of Alabama Avenue, where a 22-year-old Nashville man sustained critical injuries.
Despite the severity of the situation, when West Precinct officers arrived at the scene, they found no one injured. The unnamed victim, however, managed to drive himself in a Dodge Durano to Mapco on 21st Avenue South. It was there that Midtown Hills Precinct officers provided first aid before the victim was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment. He is expected to recover from his injuries.
In a separate but related incident, officers also attended St. Thomas Hospital Midtown after a second man walked in with a gunshot wound to his arm. Detectives believe both men were injured during the Alabama Avenue ordeal and are investigating the connection between the two cases.
While examining the Mapco location, detectives discovered a handgun and several bundles of marijuana in the victim’s vehicle. Additionally, multiple cartridge casings were found on Alabama Avenue. The investigation, as stated by the authorities, is ongoing. Details of the incident and information regarding potential suspects have not been released at this time.
