
Two male juveniles have been charged in connection with the armed robbery of a 14-year-old boy in Chicago, according to a press release from the Chicago Police Department. The incident, which involved a display of firepower, including a machine gun, occurred in the 5100 block of N. Sheridan. The suspects are aged 16 and 15, respectively.
On the evening of July 20, just after 6 p.m., officers apprehended the suspects after they had reportedly taken personal property from the victim at gunpoint. The location was just blocks away from the scene of the crime, near the 5000 block of N. Winthrop Ave and 1100 block of W. Winona St., as reported by the CPD. A weapon was in the possession of one of the juveniles when the police located them.
The older suspect faces one felony count of armed robbery with a firearm, a felony count for possession of a machine gun or automatic weapon, and a misdemeanor count for making physical contact of a battery nature. The younger has been charged with one felony count of armed robbery with a firearm and a misdemeanor count for causing bodily harm related to battery, as per the CPD.
Following their arrest, both offenders were placed into custody and charged as per the law's demands. As the Chicago Police Department continues its investigation, no further details have been disclosed about the circumstances surrounding the robbery or the subsequent arrest of the juveniles.
