Two additional men have been accused in connection with a deadly incident that unfolded on June 29 in the parking lot of Top Golf on Cowan Street. The violent altercation, which claimed the life of 41-year-old Dahal Umesh, has led to the arrest of Roshan Subba-Lawati, 24, and Kishor Tamang-Bhaii, 22. According to Nashville officials, both men now face criminal homicide charges for their alleged role in the assault.
During the fateful night, an argument inside the venue spilled quickly into the parking lot where Umesh reportedly attempted to peacefully resolve the conflict. It was this intervention that resulted, say authorities, in Umesh being struck down. Subba-Lawati was apprehended by Specialized Investigations Division detectives, while Tamang-Bhaii surrendered voluntarily upon learning he was wanted. Their detention follows the earlier arrest of 26-year-old Bishal Rai, who was initially charged with aggravated assault prior to the upgrade of his charges to criminal homicide.
The victim, a member of Nashville’s Nepali community, was attending a concert within the Top Golf entertainment complex when the dispute arose. Tragically, after being punched and falling to the ground, Umesh was then kicked in the head while incapacitated, as detailed in statements from the police. This series of events ultimately led to his death on July 2, several days post assault.
Homicide Detective Chris Cote, who has been spearheading the ongoing investigation, identified Subba-Lawati and Tamang-Bhaii as additional suspects through concerted investigative efforts. The latest developments are a somber reminder of the abrupt violence that unfolded among what had begun as an evening of leisure. All three accused are currently being held in the Downtown Detention Center, awaiting further legal proceedings.
