Two additional suspects have been detained in connection with a deadly altercation that occurred at an East Nashville Topgolf last month. The Metro Nashville Police Department reported the arrests of Roshan Subba-Lawati, 24, and Kishor Tamang-Bhaii, 22, who now face criminal homicide charges, as detailed by WKRN. The assault tragically ended in the death of 41-year-old Dahal Umesh, who was attempting to de-escalate a dispute at a concert within the venue when the incident spilled violently into the parking lot.
According to WSMV, Umesh was allegedly trying to quickly defuse the situation when he was struck, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete. He was subsequently kicked in the head while lying on the ground, and he succumbed to his injuries last Tuesday. Before these latest developments, 26-year-old Bishal Rai was apprehended last Monday and has been held on an aggravated assault charge, which they now plan to upgrade to criminal homicide.
Both Subba-Lawati and Tamang-Bhaii are accused of joining Rai in the fatal attack. Subba-Lawati was arrested by detectives on Thursday, and Tamang-Bhaii surrendered himself for booking after learning he was wanted by the police. Homicide Detective Chris Cote led the ongoing investigation which pointed to the involvement of the two men, according to FOX 17. All three individuals are now incarcerated at the Downtown Detention Center.
The incident has highlighted tensions within the community, especially among Nashville's Nepali population, of which Umesh was a member. The MNPD made no additional comments on the motives behind the assault or the circumstances leading to the dispute inside Topgolf. Nevertheless, the sudden and brutal nature of the attack that transitioned to the murder of Dahal Umesh remains a somber reflection of the altercation's grim escalation.
