In an urgent marine rescue, two individuals were saved after their boat erupted into flames near Dania Beach, as reported by the United States Coast Guard (USCG). The incident unfolded on Thursday, approximately 11 miles from the coastline.
The USCG dispatched a small boat crew who promptly located the duo on a life raft, following a distress call about the fire. According to CBS12, the pair was retrieved and did not require medical attention.
Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue (BSFR) was responsible for extinguishing fire onboard the boat, while the Coast Guard crew facilitated the transfer of the survivors to Broward Sheriff deputies, who ensured their safe return to shore.
As smoke loomed over the vessel, 7Skyforce provided an aerial view of the incident as BSFR crews attended to the blackened remains of the craft. The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, with WSVN reporting that the rescued boaters were unharmed in the ordeal.
The task of boat salvaging now falls to the owner, who will make requisite arrangements for the vessel, as mentioned by the United States Coast Guard.
