Wright County Parks is teaming up with various organizations to host the 2024 Disabled Veterans Duck Hunt, set to take place at Robert Ney Regional Park on October 5. A collaborative effort initially forged by Wright County Parks and Pheasants Forever has expanded to include 4 Points Retriever Club, Hasty-Silver Creek Sportsmen’s Club, the North American Hunting Retriever Association, and Wright County Veterans Services—all key contributors to the event.
On offer is a rare chance for eight disabled veterans to engage in a day of duck hunting on grounds not typically open to the public. This initiative is a token of appreciation for those who have given a part of themselves in service to the nation. Those interested in the hunt need to apply through Wright County Veterans Services by September 16, as outlined on the county's notice. After the application deadline, participants will be chosen via a random lottery.
Selected individuals can expect to receive notification by September 20, no later than 5 p.m., as confirmed by the county. Regrettably, if you're not picked, don’t hold out for a call or a letter—no contact will be made with those not selected. For further information or inquiries, veterans can reach out directly to Wright County Veterans Services at 763-682-7325, or fill out an online application at any time on the county website.
Those seeking to take part in this unique experience should make note of the key deadlines and prepare to apply when the online process commences.
