Last night, a 15-year-old boy experienced the harsh realities of Chicago's gun violence when he was shot in the Uptown neighborhood, an event placing a chilling reminder in the hearts of the city's residents about the persistent shadow of street violence. CBS News Chicago reports that the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of North Winthrop Avenue, where the boy, simply standing outside, fell prey to the unexpected gunfire.
The victim's night took to quickly turn traumatic as bullets rang out, with one striking him in the rear. Despite the frightening ordeal, the Chicago Fire Department treated him at the scene before his transport to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, as per CBS News Chicago. The boy did not provide further details about the shooting to the authorities at the time.
Meanwhile, FOX 32 Chicago confirmed that the young victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the buttocks. As is too often the case in these incidents, no one has been taken into custody, and the detectives from Area Three are carrying out the investigations in an effort to shed light upon and to swiftly bring justice in this matter.
