ADOT to Discuss Expansion and Improvements of State Route 347 at Public Meeting in MaricopaSource: Google Street View

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is setting the stage for community engagement with a public meeting set for Aug. 15, focusing on the future of State Route 347. They're seeking to bridge the gap between government plans and public opinion on the proposed projects that would connect Maricopa to Interstate 10. Interested citizens are encouraged to attend the session from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center, as reported by the Arizona Department of Transportation. There will be an open house, a preliminary recommendation presentation, and a slot for public questions and comments.

Among the enhancements being discussed, ADOT has laid out a vision to widen SR 347, adding another lane in each direction between I-10 and Maricopa. They are also looking to quickly begin and complete the widening of bridges over Santa Rosa Wash, Santa Cruz Wash, and the Gila River; along with intersection improvements at Borgia Road and Maricopa Road. Initial designs, as detailed by ADOT, kick-started in 2023 and are expected to span over two years.

For those who can't make the meeting but want to voice their opinions or concerns, ADOT is providing multiple avenues for input until Aug. 29. The community can conveniently offer their comments through an online form, a phone call, email correspondence to Kimberly Larson of ADOT, or by standard mail delivery. Details for these options are available on the ADOT website or directing inquiries to the listed ADOT Community Relations address.
