Two alleged bank robbers, targeting individuals freshly separated from their financial institutions, have been apprehended in Miami Springs, authorities report. Miami Springs Police arrest the pair, accused of a burglary scheme known as bank jugging – where criminals stake out banks or ATMs, follow customers withdrawing large sums, and then either force them into giving up the cash or stealthily break into their vehicles to claim the loot.
The Miami Springs case unfolded when a local man, having just made a withdrawal from a bank ATM, made his way home, unaware that eyes trailed him. The thieves, driving a newer model BMW SUV, marked him. The unwitting resident left the cash inside his car to briefly step inside his domicile. Police said Walter Ray Kyles took this opportunity to suddenly and violently break the car window and take off with the checks and money.
But the swift hands of justice were quick to follow. "By 6:25 PM, Kyles was identified, his car was located, and both he and a female driver, Summer Jenae Wallace, were arrested by the Miami Springs Investigations Division," according to a detailed post by the NBC Miami. The recovery of a portion of the stolen funds brought some solace, as the money was returned to the victim.
The police department took to social media, issuing a warning to the public about the perils of these bank predations. "Bank jugging" typically involves detailed surveillance and coordination among perpetrators. "Call us if you see suspicious vehicles or persons loitering around our banks," Miami Springs Police urged in an Instagram post, confirmed by Miami Springs, Florida.
