
Traffic has resumed on the overpass connecting EB I-20 to NB 360, following a temporary closure due to an accident involving an 18-wheeler, which was hauling a crane. The incident, which resulted in the shutdown of the on-ramp, required motorists to seek alternative routes for a period, causing disruptions across the region. The City of Arlington acknowledged the patience of the public during the incident, expressing gratitude for the cooperation and quick action of local authorities and partners at TxDOT in the aftermath of the accident.
Following the accident, an update posted by the City of Arlington stated, "We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience while we worked to clear the wreck and our partners at TxDOT worked to ensure the overpass was safe to reopen to traffic." The wreck prompted swift action, with the overpass having been thoroughly inspected for safety before reopening to ensure that the structural integrity had not been compromised. Drivers were met with an overpass, once blocked by the sprawling limbs of steel and rubber, now returning to its function as a conduit to the flow of daily traffic.
The incident caused significant traffic disruptions, necessitating detours and additional travel time for many drivers. On the day of the accident, the City of Arlington's law enforcement alerted the community with an urgent message, "Our officers are currently working an accident involving an 18-wheeler that was hauling a crane." The on-ramp from eastbound I-20 to northbound 360 remained closed as crews worked diligently to manage the scene and repair any damage caused by the event.
