Labor Day is brings some significant changes to your usual city services on Monday. According to the Athens-Clarke County Government announcement, the Animal Shelter will be closed, so adoptions will need to wait until Tuesday.
Pets can still enjoy the parks on Labor Day as they remain open, but non-emergency Animal Services will not be available. For emergencies, such as animal bites or serious injuries, call 911. For more information, contact the Animal Services Department at 706-613-3540 or visit their website after the holiday.
The Solid Waste offices will also be closed for Labor Day. If Monday is your usual trash day, expect pickup to occur a day later. However, downtown residents will have their trash and recycling collected as scheduled. Remember to leave your bins out for the delayed schedule, with collections pushed to the next day through Friday.
Transit services will also be on break for Labor Day, so buses won't run on Monday. Service will resume on Tuesday. For more information, contact the Transit Department at 706-613-3432 or visit their website after the holiday.
Administrative offices like City Hall and the Courthouse will be closed for Labor Day and will reopen on Tuesday.
