Gwinnett County Police Department's routine traffic stop turned into a significant drug bust on June 8, after a canine unit detected narcotics in a vehicle. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Lance Allen Meyer from Athens, was found in possession of a substantial amount of methamphetamine, leading to his arrest for drug trafficking.

According to an official statement released by the police department, it was the department's K9 Mako that gave the critical alert during an open-air sniff around Meyer's car. During the ensuing search, officers seized just over 140 grams of methamphetamine. The press release did not specify, traffic conditions at the time of Meyer’s arrest.

Meyer was taken into custody without any reported issues. He now faces serious charges for trafficking in methamphetamine and is currently detained at the Gwinnett County Jail. The bust underscores ongoing law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking within the county.
