An Athens man is facing serious charges after Gwinnett County Police stopped his vehicle in June, leading to the discovery of a large amount of methamphetamine. Lance Allen Meyer, 33, was pulled over by officers from the Central Precinct Community Response Team and officers found over 140 grams of meth following a K9-assisted search, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

During the traffic stop, K9 Mako, part of the Gwinnett County Police Department's unit, conducted an open-air sniff around Meyer's car, and he alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. A search ensued and revealed the illegal substance in question, methamphetamine, ostensibly bound for distribution. Meyer was taken into custody without incident, according to officials.

Channel 2 Action News shared a video featuring K9 Mako in action as he examined Meyer's vehicle, which eventually led to the discovery and seizure of the drugs. The footage was released by the Gwinnett County Police Department to elucidate the process behind the arrest.

Meyer now faces charges for trafficking methamphetamine and is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
