The City of Avondale has recently enlisted the expertise of Kathryn (Katie) Gregory as its new Assistant City Manager. Gregory, possessing a depth of experience in local government management spanning more than 30 years, is poised to bring her talents in public administration and community engagement to strengthen Avondale’s leadership team. Pulling from her background in strategic planning and economic development, Gregory has been known for pushing communities she has served toward favorable outcomes. With previous roles including Deputy City Manager and Budget Director for Peoria, City Manager of Prescott, and General Manager for WestWorld in Scottsdale, her resume speaks volumes.
Armed with a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Arizona State University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Western Oregon University, where she also showcased her athletic skills playing basketball for the Lady Wolves, Gregory's education complements her real-world experience. According to an announcement by the city, Ron Corbin, Avondale’s City Manager, expressed delight at her arrival. Having Gregory on the team, with her dedication to public service, is expected to be "instrumental in advancing our city's goals," he noted.
Gregory's responsibilities as Assistant City Manager include watching over several key city departments, and closely collaborating with Corbin and other city officials to roll out strategic initiatives and policies. Her crucial role will also see her engendering the city's vision and confirming the delivery of high-quality services to its residents. “I am so excited to be back in the West Valley and part of an already powerhouse team! I look forward to working together with the people, the businesses and the partners in Avondale to advance community interests and the City Council’s priorities,” Gregory told the city's news release.
When not at the helm leading teams, Gregory partakes in local events, enjoying engaging with the community, according to the city's website. Her appointment comes as a significant step for Avondale, indicating the city's commitment to bringing on board experienced leaders who are looking forward to propelling the city toward a bright and community-focused future.
