Belmont's Urban Horizon Broadens with The Hayden's Completion Near Caltrain StationSource: PYATOK

Belmont's landscape is taking a definitive stride towards contemporary urban development with the completion of The Hayden, a new residential building at 815 Old County Road. Developed by Carmel Partners and with property management by Greystar, the five-story complex features 177 apartments and is already leasing. It is situated mere steps from the city's Caltrain station. SF YIMBY reports that the structure provides approximately 125,900 square feet of living space and also accommodates parking for 200 cars.

The amenities for residents include a second-floor pool deck, a club room, and a lounge on the fifth floor. PYATOK was responsible for the building’s design, which features an exterior clad in board-formed concrete, fiber cement, and stucco, while Jett Landscape Architecture crafted the surrounding landscape. The 1.74-acre site, once home to the now-shuttered Belmont Iceland skating rink, has been transformed within walking distance of downtown Belmont and Nesbit Elementary School, aligning with the broader Belmont Village Specific Plan.

Adjacent developments are also part of the narrative of growth in the Belmont area. Not far from The Hayden, Windy Hill Property Ventures has completed Artisan Crossing, another four-story apartment complex with 250 units at 1325 Old County Road. Both projects are part of a push to meet housing needs, with The Hayden PYATOK stating its contribution "making a significant dent in Belmont’s RHNA goal", a reference to the Regional Housing Needs Allocation, which sets forth objectives for housing developments in California communities.

With its strategic location near Belmont’s downtown and other amenities, The Hayden promotes a balance between ease of urban living and the serenity of a residential retreat. According to PYATOK, the building's design revolves around a central courtyard that offers a pool and outdoor lounges and is directly adjacent to the clubhouse. The ground level of the building adorns a leasing office, a lobby, various co-working spaces, and a fitness studio alongside a rooftop lounge providing unobstructed views. The design leverages the property's unique layout to create a verdant approach for all forms of transport, surrounding the building with a 'social loop' for walking and community engagement.
