
Residents of Cedar Lake Township witnessed a structure fire on August 17, when a large shed became engulfed in flames. The Scott County 911 Dispatch received the emergency call at 5:06 p.m., reporting the blaze at a rural property on the 14xxx block of 270th Street East.
According to a statement from Scott County authorities, first responders from multiple departments, including the New Prague, Elko New Market, Jordan, Prior Lake Fire Departments, and Minnesota Valley Electric Company were quickly on the scene. Despite their efforts, the Quonset-style shed used for storage, was a total loss, however, there were no injuries reported.
While the aftermath saw the structure reduced to ashes, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are looking into the incident, but as it stands, the officials don't suspect any foul play.
Coordination and support between various agencies underscored the response to the emergency; the Scott County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by contributions from neighboring fire departments and utility services.
