Yesterday morning, at approximately 11:30 AM, Boston Police responded to a reported shooting on Roxbury Street. The swift arrest of Alexander Delarosa, a 48-year old Boston resident, followed an incident where officers were called to the scene for a person shot, as reported by the Boston Police Department's news blog.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement began searching for both the victim and perpetrator, and a victim who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries, later sought help at a local hospital. Surveillance footage played a critical role, as detectives viewed images that ultimately led to the identification of Delarosa after disseminating a suspect picture. The arrest occurred in the vicinity of Centre and Estrella Street when a detective recognized an individual matching the suspect's profile.
Delarosa's encounter with the police intensified when he attempted to avoid detection by hiding behind a vehicle and placing his hand in his pocket. Refusing to comply with multiple commands to reveal his hands, officers ultimately detained Delarosa. A subsequent search led to the discovery of a Regent firearm, with three rounds and one spent shell casing, hidden in his left sweater pocket.
The Boston Police Department has confirmed that Delarosa is facing charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon. He is slated for arraignment at the Roxbury District Court. The cooperation between detectives and officers on the scene has been noted for the efficient apprehension of the suspect, subsequent to the reported disturbance on Roxbury Street.
