A 25-year-old man from Calhoun, Georgia, Anthony Wilkinson, has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting at an outdoor party in Murray County. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Wilkinson is facing charges of Aggravated Assault and Felony Murder over the death of 18-year-old Jeffery Tyler Ray.
The GBI, in coordination with the Murray County Sheriff's office, responded to the incident after deputies were called to a residence off Sexton Road in Resaca. There, they found Ray who had been shot. It was on Sunday, August 25, that Ray succumbed to his injuries in a local hospital. Another individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was treated for a gunshot wound to the face.
Following Ray's death, plans have been made to perform an autopsy at the GBI Medical Examiner's Office. This action, commonplace in such inquiries, serves to provide further clarity on the circumstances of Ray's passing.
