An unfortunate incident at Canyon Lake has claimed the life of a man following a monsoon storm this past Thursday. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) received a call concerning a possible drowning at approximately 5:24 P.M. Witnesses reportedly saw the man fall from his paddleboard and attempt to swim back to shore at the Acacia Recreation site without the aid of a personal flotation device.

The MCSO swiftly responded to the scene, where they began to search for the individual. It was reported by ABC15 that the man was last seen north of the no-wake buoy before he disappeared. Despite the adverse weather conditions, teams thoroughly scoured the area but were forced to suspend the watercraft search shortly after 9:15 P.M. due to the failing light and treacherous conditions.

Search efforts continued the following day and concluded tragically when deputies discovered the man's body at approximately 9:15 A.M. on Friday. Found in about 75 feet of water, there were "no suspicious circumstances" surrounding the incident, as per the statement provided by the MCSO. The identity of the victim has not yet been released to the public.
