On Friday afternoon, a small plane was forced to make an unusual water landing in a canal at Orlando Executive Airport, airport officials have confirmed. According to ClickOrlando, the incident involved a Cessna 172, the type of sturdy small craft often seen buzzing over Orlando skies, less often seen making unscheduled detours into waterways.
The aircraft, hailing from a local flight school, "experienced difficulty in landing and ended off the runway," an airport spokesperson shared in a statement, as cited by WFTV.
According to a report, the incident took place around 3 p.m. The response from the airport staff was quick, and there were no reports of injuries either to the occupants of the plane or to personnel on the ground.
