
The Government Finance Officers Association of Arizona (GFOAz) has honored Chandler’s Deputy City Manager and Chief Financial Officer, Dawn Lang, with the Finance Excellence Award. The accolade, which is new to the association's repertoire of recognitions, was presented on Aug. 8 during their Summer Conference.
Lang's dedication and proficiency in the realm of local government finance over the past 15 years, won her this award. According to information released by the City of Chandler, Josh Wright, the City Manager, commended Lang's prowess in financial matters, “This award acknowledges Dawn’s talent and passion for government finance.” He added, “She fulfills an essential role in building our reputation for financial excellence and elevates our capabilities to serve residents in the process.”
Under Lang's financial leadership, Chandler has secured an enviable position of strength. The city boasts a rare perfect general obligation bond rating from all three major agencies. Furthermore, Chandler stands out as the first Arizona city to achieve a flawless excise tax revenue obligation bond rating from these agencies. It also prides itself as the largest city in the state to have fully covered its public safety pension liabilities.
