Tragedy has once again struck Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood with a shooting that left one woman dead and a man critically injured late Thursday night. According to the Chicago Tribune, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. when the victims were positioned in the gangway of an apartment building located on the 3400 block of West Douglas Boulevard when they were hit by gunfire.
The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, received a strike to the head and was subsequently transported to an area hospital but was pronounced dead. Her male companion, meanwhile suffering from injuries to his chest and head, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, later confirmed that the man also succumbed to his injuries, as reported by CBS News.
The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities ask that anyone with information regarding the shooting contact Area 4 detectives, as per CBS News.
