The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert, informing the public of these incidents where victims were approached on the street by two armed suspects who demanded their valuables before fleeing on foot.
In a troubling pattern across both districts, the robberies took place at various times and locations, including the 5500 Block of South Whipple Street and multiple incidents along West 55th Street and South Sacramento Avenue. The perpetrators, described by authorities as two African-American males between the ages of 15 and 17, were seen wearing all-black clothing and ski masks during the offenses. The specificity of the crimes has rattled residents, leading to increased calls for effective measures to ensure their safety and deter future incidents.
The police are urging community members to be vigilant of their surroundings and report any suspicious activities immediately.
