Roseland, a neighborhood often punctuated by the staccato of gunshots, bore witness to violence yet again, as Chicago police responded to reports of armed individuals this past Sunday. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, authorities received calls around 3:12 p.m. about people with guns on the 700 block of East 95th Street. A pursuit ensued, resulting in the arrest of two males, their ages 21 and unknown. After the apprehension, two weapons were found.
The unspecified male was gravely injured by gunfire, sustaining a wound to the groin. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was reported as serious. This incident fell on the heels of a shooting at a nearby gas station the previous night, where a dispute boiled over into a triad of injuries. The Chicago Tribune detailed that three individuals were shot during the altercation, including a 16-year-old boy now in critical condition, a 20-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man, both of whom are in good condition.
Police officials report no arrests have been made in connection with the gas station shooting, as the assailants managed to flee the scene undetected. Area Two detectives are actively investigating both incidents, as per the Chicago Tribune.
