Chicago authorities are in the midst of a search for a hit-and-run driver following an incident that left a jogger seriously injured in Greektown over the weekend. The Chicago Police Department reported that the crash occurred on Saturday around 5:45 p.m. in the 0-100 block of South Halsted Street, as per NBC Chicago.
The victim, identified as a 44-year-old woman, was jogging along the shoulder and in the bike lane when she was struck by a black Toyota RAV4, according to NBC Chicago.
The vehicle involved in the incident did not stop to render aid and instead fled the scene heading southbound on Halsted. Following the collision, the woman was transported to Stroger Hospital and is said to be in critical condition, as reported by CBS News Chicago.
As of Sunday night, no arrests had been made in connection to the case, as detailed by NBC Chicago. The investigation has been handed over to the Major Accidents Investigations Unit of the Chicago Police Department.
