Despite the mild weather inland, advisories caution against Lake Michigan recreation, tonight’s predominantly clear skies will dip to a low near 61, along with a persistent north-northeast wind at around 15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph. With large waves and dangerous currents expected to continue through Tuesday evening, a High Swim Risk is in effect for Lake Michigan beaches, posing significant risks to beach-goers, according to the NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook.
The outlook for Tuesday mirrors today’s conditions with sunny weather and highs touching 71 degrees while gusts may reach 20 mph. Nighttime will see mostly clear skies and a low of around 60, per the detailed forecast. The pleasant weather patterns are expected to continue with a slight gradual uptick in temperatures, hitting 75 on Wednesday and climbing to a high near 89 by Saturday, as detailed by the NWS.
As the week progresses, the temperatures in Chicago are expected to soar, reaching close to record highs with Sunday’s peak possibly hitting the 91-degree mark — offering residents a respite from the cool start and a glimpse of the impending end-of-summer warmth.
