Local authorities in Clackamas County made a coordinated move against retail theft last Thursday at the Oak Grove Fred Meyer. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with the Oregon Department of Justice and Fred Meyer loss prevention for a focused operation. Working for ten hours, deputies and detectives were hands-on in curbing the criminal activity that has been aggressively targeted since 2022.
Reflecting the nature of collaboration, while addressing the necessity for such focused missions, officials at the scene took 10 suspects into custody. After exiting the Fred Meyer, located at 14700 SE McLoughlin Blvd., these individuals, which included 9 adults and 1 juvenile, were detained on a range of charges, with over $500 worth of goods recovered in the process. During the same mission, four outstanding arrest warrants were resolved, as reported by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized the importance of such partnerships, underscoring how local businesses have been essential allies in this ongoing campaign against shoplifting.
Consequences for the accused ranged from simple warnings to bookings into the county jail. In a bid to maintain public safety and support the local economy, the Sheriff’s Office confirms that future missions similar to this recent one at the Oak Grove Fred Meyer are in the works. As the detail also led to several arrests, it shows the commitment to enforcement and the diverse tactics being employed by law enforcement.
