
A pedestrian incident occurred in Clarksville on Wednesday afternoon when an individual was struck by a vehicle, Clarksville police reported. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:44 p.m. near the intersection of Providence Boulevard and B Street, as mentioned WSMV. Following the incident, one southbound lane was kept open, leading to substantial traffic delays.
The initial closure contributed to traffic congestion spanning various areas. Southbound traffic was reported by ClarksvilleNow to have backed up past Dover Crossing, with northbound traffic congested onto Kraft Street, almost to College Street, on Second Street, and Riverside Drive. Although, the roadway was reopened around 5:45 p.m., residual delays continued to affect the area for some time.
While the flow of traffic has since returned to normal, the condition of the pedestrian involved remains undisclosed. The Clarksville Police Department has not released further details regarding the individual's status following the collision, which was also confirmed by WHOP. The incident led to the temporary shutdown of the roadway impacting commutes and travel plans for motorists in the vicinity.
Authorities have not shared additional information concerning the circumstances leading up to the accident, nor the identity of the pedestrian. The investigation by the Clarksville Police Department into the accident is ongoing.
