At around 1:18 PM, local law enforcement responded to a business on the unit block of Colma Boulevard on Tuesday. They had received a report that a male suspect had stolen merchandise and was seen heading towards Junipero Serra Boulevard, according to the Colma Police Department.

Colma Police quickly arrived at the scene, spotting a male matching the theft suspect's description at the corner of Colma and Junipero Serra Boulevards. When officers attempted to investigate further, the suspect decided to make a run for it, directly disobeying orders to stop and triggering a foot chase by the officers. They managed to catch and detain the male at the juncture of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Southgate Avenue, ending the brief pursuit without additional complications.

The suspect was then positively identified by the business' loss prevention personnel as the individual responsible for the theft. As per the police report, an account was taken, and it revealed that the merchandise stolen amounted to a sizable haul of belts valued at $1,844.96.

Identified as Leandro Gonzales, an 18-year-old resident of Oakland, he was subsequently arrested for burglary, grand theft, and resisting arrest. Gonzales now faces the consequences of his actions as he was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
