
Tragedy struck the law enforcement community in Honolulu as Deputy Sheriff Jordan J. Kagehiro was found dead at his residence. The Honolulu Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deputy's passing, with details remaining scarce, as indicated by the news release from the Department of Law Enforcement and the Office of the Governor.
Deputy Kagehiro was a recent graduate of the Law Enforcement Recruit Class of December 15, 2023, having completed over 1,000 hours of intensive training. During his tenure at the academy, leading by example was always his way; his efforts widely admired for ensuring that his peers excelled and met the challenges ahead of them. After graduation, he served the Central Patrol Division, which safeguards downtown Honolulu.
Lauded for his unwavering commitment to his vocation and his love for the field of law enforcement, Deputy Kagehiro's untimely death cuts short a career full of promise. Apart from his duties as a law enforcement officer, he was actively serving in the U.S. Army Reserve. His death marks a substantial loss for not only the Deputy Sheriff Jordan J. Kagehiro but also the community whose safety he dedicated himself to protect, as per the Office of the Governor.
In reaction to the young deputy's demise, Deputy Sheriff Jordan J. Kagehiro Director Jordan Lowe expressed his condolences, mourning the loss of a beloved colleague, as reported by the Office of the Governor. "The department and our community has lost a great young Deputy Sheriff and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Deputy Kagehiro’s family, loved ones and friends, as well as members of the department and law enforcement agencies for this loss of such a promising officer," said Lowe, as the community reflects on the officer whose life was dedicated to serving others.
