
Residents in the 16th District of Chicago have been put on high alert after a series of attempted residential burglaries, including a confirmed burglary, have unsettled the community. In a detailed community alert released by the Chicago Police Department, it was reported that an intruder has been entering homes through open windows. At the same time, residents are asleep, and stealthily stealing wallets and cell phones before making a quiet exit.
The incidents, which saw an uptick on August 10, occurred in close time frames and proximity. According to the CPD, the affected areas include the 5200 block of North Newland Ave. at 3:45 am and 3:51 am, as well as the 6900 block of West Farragut Ave. at 4:11 am, and finally, the 6800 block of West Foster Ave. at 5:30 am.
The suspect in question is described as an African-American male, aged between 50-55 years old, with a height ranging from 5'07" to 5'09" and weighing approximately 140-150lbs, as reported by the CPD. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing. The police are urging any individuals with information to come forward and contact law enforcement.
