Dog owners in DeKalb County can ready their furry friends for a splashy good time as the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs gears up to host the Doggie Splash Pawlooza. Slated for September 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this whimsical affair takes place at Midway Park Pool, situated at 3181 Midway Road, Decatur, Ga.
According to the DeKalb County, attendees can expect not just any ordinary dip in the pool. The event is to feature an array of activities including a dog swimsuit contest, with the bonus of music and games. Winners can wag their tails proudly with prizes going to the top three contestants. A fee of $5 will get your pup in the pool, all in aid of a good cause; proceeds will go to enhance Brookside and Mason Mill dog parks.
For those looking to join in the fun, there are some ground rules to follow. Dogs should be kept on a leash, and owners must show current vaccinations and a rabies tag upon entry – no exceptions. However, if your pooch is either a youngin' under six months or experiencing a heat cycle, they'll have to sit this event out.
