Phoenix's Roosevelt Row is set to introduce a new player in its burgeoning food and drink scene with Formation Brewing, a name already well-regarded in Colorado through Denver Beer Co.'s success. The establishment, spearheaded by Patrick Crawford and Charles Berger of Denver Beer Co., is planning to make its debut later this year. Spread across 10,000 square feet, the brewery finds its home at 925 N. 5th Street within The Blocks at Roosevelt Row, joining the likes of Taco Chelo and LeDu Thai, as noted by ABC15.
As flagship Denver locations have thrived, Crawford and Berger are looking to replicate that success in Phoenix. Formation Brewing doesn't just aim to serve beer; its philosophy revolves around community building and adding a local flair. Robert MacEachern, the CEO of Formation Brewing, emphasized this idea in a statement obtained by the Business Journals, "Inspired by the beauty and resilience of nature, our purpose is to build connections, bringing people together through shared experiences."
With an investment of $1.7 million into renovations, the new venue comprises a 19-tank brewhouse, an expansive kitchen, and dining options including a patio and a potential second-level bar. Formation Brewing's plans have already attracted the city's attention, resulting in a building permit for the commercial remodel, reported by the Business Journals.
The Blocks at Roosevelt Row, where Formation Brewing is set to open, represents a portion of Phoenix's concerted effort to expand the district's appeal. Desert Viking Development has been instrumental in transforming the area since acquiring land there in 2016, with other developers like Intersection Development and Mainstreet Capital Partners following suit by introducing new residential and commercial projects.
