
In Roxbury on the evening of Saturday, August 24, during a routine traffic stop at 518 Warren Street, Boston police were struck by an unknown liquid thrown from a passing vehicle. This incident led to the arrest of a person for having a firearm.
The officers, who were positioned inside their cruiser, managed to locate the suspected vehicle shortly after the incident. Danyael Torres, a 23-year-old Dorchester resident was among those detained, according to the Boston Police Department. One of the vehicle’s passengers confessed the intent was to frighten the officers. Upon investigation, the police recovered a Taurus PT111 Millennium gun with ammunition and a squirt gun from within the vehicle.
Torres, found in the front passenger seat, initially refused to comply with officers’ instructions to exit the vehicle, a sequence that culminated with the police conducting a pat frisk and the subsequent discovery of the firearm on his person. The other occupants of the vehicle were released at the scene with no further involvement.
The Boston Police Department report states that Torres now faces multiple charges including Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition the arraignment is to be held at Roxbury District Court. There is no public information yet about his defense or plea.
