
Douglas County’s Suleman Rana, the managing director of its Transportation Services Division, has been selected for the 2024 class of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute (RLI). Rana and 56 others were chosen through a competitive process for their leadership potential and commitment to community improvement, according to a Douglas County announcement.
Serve as the breeding ground for innovative ideas, RLI's curriculum intertwines hands-on learning with the pressing challenges of urban planning and policy. This year, the program's syllabus dives deep into issues like housing affordability and transit, not to mention the broader implications for public health and regional growth.
"I’m honored and humbled to have been selected for this prestigious leadership class," Rana conveyed with a sense of gratitude toward both the opportunity and the endorsement from county officials. Rana's statement, as reported by Douglas County’s news release, "I look forward to further evaluating regional challenges, exchanging perspectives, and collaborating with my classmates to create effective, results-driven strategies. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the County Administration for their unwavering support and encouragement."
The RLI program, stretching from August 21 to November 14, is not just another professional development course. Having been chosen from an impressive pool of candidates, imbued with a clear vision for the significant role participants are expected to play in shaping the future. Over 1,500 RLI alumni have preceded Rana since the program's inception in the early '90s, each graduating with not just enhanced leadership skills but with an ingrained understanding of the region's intricate policy tapestry.
