Atlanta Duo Wanted After $5K Cigarette Heist Turns Violent on Donnelly Avenue

A man and woman are wanted by Atlanta police after allegedly stealing $5,000 worth of cigarettes from a business on Donnelly Avenue SW and assaulting an employee before running off. The man was reportedly asked to leave the business before the confrontation turned physical, and both suspects fled together once the cigarettes were in hand.

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, investigators are still working to identify both suspects and are asking the public for help. The outlet, citing a Crime Stoppers Atlanta press release, reported that the man assaulted an employee after being told to leave, and that he and the woman then stole the cigarettes and fled the business.

The theft happened on Donnelly Avenue SW, a corridor that sits within Atlanta Police Department Zone 4, which covers 67 Southwest Atlanta neighborhoods including Oakland City, Cascade, Venetian Hills and West End, according to the Atlanta Police Department. Zone 4 is commanded out of a precinct at 88 York Avenue SW, though the city broke ground in September 2025 on a new $18 million Zone 4 precinct on Cascade Circle Southwest, replacing a facility built in 1984, per WSB-TV.

Donnelly Avenue SW has drawn police attention before. In June 2025, officers responded to a shooting at 1294 Donnelly Ave SW that wounded two people, an incident the Atlanta Police Department's Aggravated Assault Unit investigated after a man and woman were hospitalized.
