Provo River became the stage for an unexpected drama yesterday when around a dozen tubers found themselves stranded on an impromptu island. According to FOX 13 Now, emergency services were alerted at about 2:45 p.m. that several individuals were gathering on a sandbar within the river, east of Vivian Park, with more people subsequently joining to form a group that included between 11 and 13 people.

The tubers, confronted with what they perceived as threatening water conditions, chose to err on the side of caution, electing to not proceed further down the river. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office tactfully reminded the public to "evaluate conditions and consider if maybe you should go bowling or to a movie if severe weather is, or has been, in the forecast", in a social media post as per Gephardt Daily.

In response to the precarious situation, fire personnel initiated a rescue operation. According to KSL NewsRadio, the fire team waded through the shin-deep waters of the Provo River to safely escort all stranded individuals off the island. The reassurance that followed this successful operation was palpable, with reports highlighting that no injuries had resulted from the incident.
