A West Park family of three is without a home after an early morning fire on Thursday. The incident occurred in their Broward County residence located on 3400 block of SW 32nd Court, just off of Hallandale Beach Boulevard, according to details from a report by NBC Miami.
The blaze, which Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue suggests may have been accidentally started by one of the occupants, was first noticed at 4:15 a.m. when first responders arrived to find smoke emanating from the house's facade. Despite the efforts of 30 firefighters, who extinguished the flames quickly in what appeared to be a bedroom, the damage from smoke was extensive.
"Although the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, the home sustained significant secondary smoke damage," stated BSFR in the NBC Miami report. The homeowners, deeply distressed by the incident, confirmed the fire's origin in a bedroom but declined to be interviewed on camera.
No injuries were reported during the incident, and it was confirmed that all pets were also safely removed from the premises, according to WSVN. The aftermath saw a considerable response at the scene while the fire crew continued their work well into the morning, using axes on drywall to prevent any potential re-ignition of the fire.
To assist the family as they cope with their loss the Red Cross has stepped in, according to WSVN. Final investigations into the precise cause of the fire are ongoing, but initial reports indicate the likelihood of it being an accidental occurrence.
