A fatal car accident in Oakland County, Michigan has resulted in the closure of Beck Road in both directions, causing disruptions in the Novi area. The incident occurred yesterday around 5:08 p.m., between 8 Mile and 9 Mile roads, when a 62-year-old Novi man driving a Ford Fusion crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a truck. According to ClickOnDetroit, the driver of the Fusion died at the scene, while the truck driver, fortunately, sustained no serious injuries.
The Novi Police Department has not released the identity of the deceased at this time. The truck was being driven by a 44-year-old Plymouth resident who emerged from the crash unharmed. "The Plymouth resident in the truck was uninjured and was not taken to a hospital", Lt. Adam Elsen said, as per FOX 2 Detroit. As authorities continue to investigate, the cause of the crash remains unclear.
This tragic event naturally caused a significant response from emergency services, and Beck Road was closed to traffic as the investigation proceeded. It is not uncommon for such closures to last several hours, as evidenced by the significant delays and detours reported in the area. Traffic around the accident site was rerouted while local police and medical personnel worked on the site.
