A tragic vehicular collision has led to a fatality and disrupted traffic along Lincoln Highway near Joliet this Monday, with Illinois State Police confirming the details of the incident. ABC7 Chicago reports that the crash, which involved a silver Ford sedan and a brown GMC truck, occurred at approximately 10:16 a.m. on Illinois Route 30 by Cherry Hill Road, resulting in one fatality at the scene and injuries to two people who were subsequently transported to a hospital.
The aftermath of the crash compelled authorities to close a section of Route 30 as clean-up crews worked through the wreckage, where Chopper 7 footage, captured around noon, showed the severe damage sustained by both vehicles - the Ford was cleaved in half on the driver's side while the truck bore extensive front-end damage, debris was strewn wide across the pavement and the magnitude of this calamity unfolded under a watchful overhead gaze, as per ABC7 Chicago.
"The driver of the pickup and a passenger were treated for injuries at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and released, Major David Keltner with the state police said," as stated by Shaw Local.
