The Southern Conservation Trust and the City of Fayetteville have announced their partnership for the upcoming Shred & Recycle Day. The event, dedicated to the disposal of unnecessary paper and the recycling of glass, is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, from 9 a.m. to noon at City Center Park. This initiative underscores the shared commitment of local organizations to sustainable practices and provides an opportunity for community members to responsibly discard their waste.
Those interested in participating in the Shred & Recycle Day can bring up to 10 small boxes or five bags of paper for shredding. However, it has been specified that the paper should be free of any metal such as binder clips or binders, and that CDs also cannot be processed during this event. According to the information provided by the Fayetteville City announcement, there is a note that cardboard will not be recycled at this event, so participants will need to consider alternative means for its disposal or reuse.
The event’s organizers have outlined specific exceptions for the types of glass they will accept; ceramics, windows, and auto glass will not be taken in for recycling. The day is strictly intended for paper shredding and glass recycling, as they have clarified that electronics will also not be accepted. All recycling efforts will take place behind the Fayetteville City Hall at 210 Stonewall Avenue West, making it a central location for residents to come together and partake in the environmental initiative.
For anyone seeking additional details about Shred & Recycle Day, interim City Clerk Chelsea Siemen can be contacted via email at [email protected]. The event, free and open to the public, reflects the ongoing efforts by the city and the Southern Conservation Trust to promote ecological stewardship and foster community involvement in environmental conservation.
